SRINAGAR: Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi joined Instagram on Thursday, sharing the first look at her forthcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, ahead of its scheduled release on November 10.
In her debut post, the 79-year-old Congress leader thanked her followers and described the book as a personal account of love, duty, loss and the search for belonging.
“I look forward to sharing it with you,” Gandhi wrote, introducing the memoir to her audience on the social media platform.
The book traces her journey from her childhood in post-war Italy to her move to India after meeting and falling in love with Rajiv Gandhi, who later became Prime Minister.
It also recounts her early years in Italy, her relationship with Rajiv Gandhi during their time at Cambridge, and the personal tragedies that shaped her life, including the assassinations of her mother-in-law, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and her husband.
The memoir reflects on her experiences in India and her relationship with the country she made her home.
Gandhi, the Congress party’s longest-serving president, offers a personal perspective on the major events and losses that have defined her life.
Publisher Alfred A Knopf announced on August 18 that Belonging: A Journey of Love would be published on November 10.
