Sonzal gets students unleash talent on festival’s third day

The third day of youth festival Sonzal, witnessed the top performances in light vocals, western vocals, mimicry and poster making competitions were held at Kashmir University.

Sonzal 2017 is an eight-day annual youth festival organised by division of youth affairs department of students welfare KU.

Around 30 participants who had already been shortlisted participated in the 2nd round in the light vocals and western vocals. Both the events were adjudicated by Nisar Ahmad Dar and Nisar Ahmad Papa. The event was held at Ghandi Bhawan. The Mimicry competition was adjudicated by Shahid Ali Khan, Cultural officer of the varsity. The event was presided over by Prof. G N khaki Dean Students Welfare while as prof. Farooq fayaz was guest of honour on the occasion. Cultural officer, Shahid Ali Khan also informed that the topic for the elocution completion would be “if you are given a chance to incorporate three changes in world: what would those three changes and why.” Elocution competition is scheduled on Dec 14 in Gandhi Bhawan, said Shahid.

More than 40 students participated in poster making competition which was coordinated by Naushad Gayoor, The topic for poster making competition were Female, Gender Equality, Swash Kashmir and Human values etc. The jury members for Poster Making competition were Masood Hussain and Arshid Hussain and Fida Hussain, The poster making competition was held at faculty of fine Arts, University of Kashmir.

Organising secretary, cultural officer, KU Shahid Ali Khan informed that the winners of this festival will participate in the north India level youth festival scheduled in January 2018.
