SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday issued the following statement regarding grenade attack in Sopore saying that today at about 1755hrs Sopore Police received information about a crime incident at Bus Stand Sopore where militants hurled a grenade upon SFs deployment.

A police spokesman in a statement said that senior police officers reached at the crime spot.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that militants hurled a grenade upon forces deployment at Bus Stand Sopore. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on road,” he said, adding that in this incident, two civilians received minor injuries and were evacuated to a nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries.

“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
