SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday issued the following statement regarding the Sopore grenade attack saying that today at about 1333hrs Sopore Police received information about a crime incident at Bus Stand Sopore where militants hurled a grenade at Police Post Bus Stand. A police spokesman in a statement said that preliminary investigation revealed that militants had hurled a grenade at Police Post Bus Stand Sopore in which 02 police personnel namely Mohammad Afzal and Azad Ahmad received minor injuries.

“Both the injured officials have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” he said.

“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.
