SRINAGAR: A motorcycle rider was killed and four other people were injured in a road accident near the stone quarry in Achabal area of Anantnag district on Tuesday, officials said.
The accident occurred when an Ignis car bearing registration number JK01AB-5445, driven by Muzammil Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohd Maqbool of Noorpora, Tral, collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03F-9746, ridden by Rayees Ahmad Gadda, son of Shabir Ahmad of Harhama, Sangam, officials said.
Rayees Ahmad Gadda and pillion rider Akash Rasool Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool of Sangam Marhama, sustained injuries in the collision.
The injured were taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Achabal for treatment, where doctors declared Gadda brought dead.
The other injured persons were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for specialised treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation. (GNS)
