SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday arrested an alleged heroin supplier during a naka checking operation at Dialgam and recovered a contraband substance believed to be heroin from his possession.
According to police, a naka was established by personnel from Police Post Dialgam at Chechripora Bypass Crossing for routine checking. During the operation, a suspicious individual travelling from Anantnag towards Bondialgam attempted to flee after noticing the police party.
Police officials said the naka team acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect on the spot.
During a search, officers recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, alias “Christian”, son of Gull Mohammad Dar, a resident of the Nanil area of Anantnag.
Police have registered FIR No. 149/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, Anantnag Police urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug peddling and illegal narcotics activities.
