South Kashmir: Police Seize Vehicles Used in Alleged Illegal Mineral Extraction

   

SRINAGAR: Police in south kashmir’s Shopian district have seized an LNT machine, a JCB and two dumpers allegedly involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the Turkwangam area.

According to police, the action was taken during a routine patrol by a team from Police Post Turkwangam, which intercepted the machinery and vehicles allegedly operating without valid royalty documents.

The seized equipment includes one LNT machine, one JCB and two dumpers.

Police said an FIR (No. 95/2026) has been registered at Police Station Zainapora under the relevant provisions of law, and an investigation has been initiated.

Reiterating its commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources, Shopian Police said strict legal action would be taken against those involved in illegal mining and unauthorised mineral extraction.

The police also appealed to the public to report any such unlawful activities, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
