SRINAGAR: Police in Tral, south Kashmir, have solved a hit-and-run case by arresting the accused and seizing the motorcycle allegedly used in the incident, officials said on Monday.
The case relates to an accident on Kahleel Road in Tral, where an unidentified motorcyclist allegedly struck a pedestrian, Shabir Ahmad Bhat of Tral Bala, and fled the scene. The injured man was immediately shifted to the Sub-District Hospital, Tral, for treatment.
Following the incident, FIR No. 73/2026 was registered at Police Station Tral under the relevant provisions of law, and an investigation was launched.
According to police, a team led by Inspector Tajamul Islam, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Tral, carried out sustained technical and human intelligence-based efforts to identify and trace the accused.
During the investigation, police arrested the accused, identified as Mursaleen Riyaz, who had allegedly been evading arrest.
Police also identified and seized the Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number JK13F-1436, which was allegedly used in the commission of the offence. Officials said all legal and procedural formalities relating to the arrest and seizure have been completed.
Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring accountability in road traffic offences and appealed to motorists to drive responsibly and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to safeguard human lives.
