South Kashmir: Two Apprehended With Arms and Ammunition During Search Operation

   

SRINAGAR: Two persons were apprehended with a pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade during a joint search operation in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

The operation was launched during the intervening night of August 24 and 25 in the general Yarwan forest area of village CB Nath in Rajpora, with joint teams of Pulwama Police, Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 183 Battalion of the CRPF taking part in the operation.

According to officials, the forces launched a Search and Destroy Operation (SADO) in the area as part of the search exercise.

During the operation, two individuals approaching CB Nath village from the forest area were noticed moving in a suspicious manner. The joint teams subsequently apprehended them, officials said.

The two were identified as Latif Ahmed Deedad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Deedad, a resident of Lassi Daban, and Aijaz Ahmed Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmed Bajad, a resident of Bun Kha Bamnoo.

A search of their possession resulted in the recovery of one pistol, 12 pistol rounds and one hand grenade, officials said.

Both individuals were taken into custody along with the recovered arms and ammunition.
