SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered a quantity of heroin-like substance during a naka check at SIDCO Lassipora on Wednesday, officials said.
A police party from Police Post Lassipora intercepted a Tata Mobile (registration number JK13C-7361) and searched its occupants, identified as Ishfaq Majeed Wani of Mughalpora Cherath and Reyaz Ahmad Wani of Looswani, Newa Pulwama.
During the search, approximately 48.5 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered, including 17.5 grams from Ishfaq Majeed Wani and 31 grams from Reyaz Ahmad Wani, officials said. The vehicle used in the alleged offence was also seized on the spot.
Police said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Litter, and further investigation has been initiated.
Jammu and Kashmir Police said it remains committed to action against drug trafficking and urged the public to share information related to narcotics and other illegal activities.
