SRINAGAR: A two-year-old boy sustained critical injuries after being allegedly hit by an unidentified motorcycle in the Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The child has been identified as Muhammad Awaan, son of Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Qazigund.
Officials said the minor was first taken to District Hospital Anantnag following the incident and was later referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, for specialised treatment due to the seriousness of his injuries.
According to the statement of a family attendant, the child was crossing the road in Qazigund when an unidentified motorcycle struck him, causing multiple injuries.
Hospital sources confirmed that the child has been admitted to SKIMS Soura and remains in a critical condition.
The incident has caused concern among local residents, who have repeatedly called for greater caution by motorists, particularly in residential areas and zones frequently used by children.
Authorities are expected to make efforts to identify the motorcycle and trace the rider involved in the accident. Further investigation into the incident is likely to follow. (KNT)
