State Congress President and former Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz Monday asked the party leaders including ministers and legislators to identify themselves with the problems of people especially in the backward and remote areas and take up their developmental and other needs with the concerned quarters in the government.

Addressing a series of meetings at Lati-Duna, Chenani and other places while concluding his two days tour of Udhampur district Prof Soz has assured the gathering and the party workers that the developmental needs and aspiration of the far flung and under developed areas of the state should get priority attention. He said that several areas which still lack basic amenities of life like proper road connectivity, better health care, facilities of higher education, electricity and drinking water facilities “as a result the inhabitants have feeling of neglect and discrimination.”

“This needs to be properly addressed by giving priority consideration to the genuine demands and needs of the areas like several parts of Ramnagar and Chenani of district Udhampur,” he said.

As per a statement the Congress chief has assured the people that he will take up their demands effectively with the concerned ministers and also assured to ask the ministers of his party to regularly make their visits to said areas for the redressal of the grievances of the people.

Prof Soz has said that Congress will keep the priority of development of remote and far flung areas on top of its agenda and appealed to people to further strengthen the party, “as it is going to emerge as number one.” He thanked the central leadership especially the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Vice President AICC Rahul Gandhi for taking keen interest in the development of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
