SRINAGAR

Taking cognizance of reports that some schools vans ferrying students were using LPG cylinders, Traffic Police City Srinagar has decided to act tough against the violators.

Superintendent Police Traffic City, Haseeb-ur-Rehman told a local news agency, KNS that parents of students should immediately inform them if they see that drivers are using LPG cylinders in the vehicles so that these vans are seized and safety and security of their children is ensured.

He warned schools to avoid using vans and other such vehicles fitted with LPG cylinders for ferrying students. Vans fitted with LPG cylinders are dangerous and sending children in such vans is virtually putting their life to risk.

Traffic Police City Srinagar has already initiated enforcement drives throughout the city and hundreds of bikes have been seized particularly in Parraypora area.

The SP warned the parents of boys using bikes to ensure that their children carry valid documents and wear helmets while driving. People have been asked to adhere to traffic rules and avoid violations like jumping red signal using mobile phone while driving and driving rashly.
