SRINAGAR

State Congress president Prof Saifuddin Soz paid obeisance at the Shrine of Hazrat Sheikhul Aalam Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA) at Charar-I-Sharief late afternoon yesterday.

In a statement a spokesman of the party said a large number of people greeted him there and performed traditional Dastarbandi. After paying obeisance at this historically revered Shrine, Soz addressed a gathering of workers and told them that they should remain steadfast in the service of the people as that is the crux of politics. He emphasized the fact that politics can be better enjoyed through service to the people.

Prof. Soz assured the people that he would continue to try in his humble way to make the Congress Party in J&K State an instrument of service to the people. “The recent devastating floods in Kashmir have offered the people of Kashmir an opportunity to remain together for the cause of humanity. There are men and women, boys and girls who had made us proud while serving the marooned people and then by offering relief,” he said.

“There are shining examples of how many people recently refused to accept free rations saying they had remained safe through the mercy of God, whereas certain greedy people and their mentors did the opposite,” Soz added.

He urged the people to join those who are dedicated in the service of the people and fight against malpractices in social and public life.

Those who accompanied Prof. Soz and spoke on the occasion included Gulam Nabi Monga MLC, Vice President JKPCC, Zahid Hussain Jan District President Budgam, Farooq Andrabi General Secretary JKPCC and others.
