Satya Pal Malik took oath as the 13th Jammu and Kashmir governor on Thursday. He was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Gita Mittal at a function at Raj Bhawan.

Reportedly the former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were among over 400 guests present at the ceremony. Dr Jitendra Singh, from PMO,  was also present in the ceremony.

Malik replaced the longest serving Governor, Narendra Nath Vohra, who was given a two-month extension after completing 10 years as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik, former governor of Bihar, soon after taking the oath straightaway left for airport. He is scheduled to fly to Delhi.
