The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul Thursday called for transparent, impartial and honest reporting of the proceedings of the forthcoming Assembly Session commencing from September 30, 2013. He also sought cooperation from the print and electronic media in highlighting the public interest issues raised by the legislators in the House during the session.

The Speaker was addressing the Press Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting held here in the meeting hall of the Legislature Complex.

Threadbare discussion was held on providing accommodation to Jammu based print and electronic media persons, issuance of entry passes, seating arrangements in Press Gallery parking of vehicles, Canteen facilities for media persons etc.

The Speaker said that though it is a short session but he will try to raise maximum public interest issues during the session. He said that each political party will be given due time to raise their public interest issues.

The Speaker said that there are 7 working days, 226 Starred Questions, 218 un-Starred Questions received for ensuing session, 7 Private Members Bills, 33 Private Members Resolutions, 7 pending Bills for introduction, 2 Government Bills for passing and 1 for further discussion.

Responding the demand of canteen facilities,  Gul said that Jammu and Kashmir Tourists Development Corporation (JKTDC) has already been directed to make necessary arrangements of canteen facilities for media persons during the course of session.

While responding to the demands of accommodation facilities for Jammu based media persons, the Speaker said that rooms have been kept available in MLA Hostel Srinagar and Circuit House in this regard.
