According to an official bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the intimation was received from Harvinder Singh, District Magistrate Doda, under reference No. 3571-73/DM/Doda dated September 8, 2025. It stated that Malik has been detained on grounds of his alleged activities being “prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.”

The District Magistrate, in his communication, noted that after due consideration of reports and circumstances, it was established that continuance of such activities by the legislator posed a grave threat to peace, public order, and tranquility in the district. He added that preventive detention under the PSA was found necessary in the interest of safeguarding law and order in the region.

The Assembly Secretariat, in line with Rule 260 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the JK Legislative Assembly, circulated the intimation to members for their information.

Malik, who represents Doda-52 constituency, is the first sitting legislator in the current House to be booked under the PSA.
