Conducted on October 10 and 11, the drive was held at polling stations across the Union Territory from 9 am to 5 pm on both days, according to the Election Department, Jammu and Kashmir.

The exercise was carried out under the overall supervision of Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma, with district election authorities coordinating arrangements and facilitating services for voters.

District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and other election functionaries supervised the drive in their respective areas. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) assisted citizens at polling stations and provided guidance on the prescribed registration procedures.

Electors were helped with Forms 6, 7 and 8, used for voter enrolment and changes to electoral records. Officials also guided citizens on accessing electoral services through the Voter Helpline App.

Election functionaries received queries and grievances from the public and referred them to the concerned officials for appropriate action. Contact numbers of relevant officials were also shared to enable citizens to seek assistance directly.

The department said eligible citizens, including young and first-time voters, could apply to their respective Electoral Registration Officers for inclusion in the electoral roll under the continuous updation process.

Door-to-door outreach and inspections by election officials also formed part of the exercise, aimed at identifying eligible voters and encouraging them to register.

Salam Din, Deputy Director Information and Nodal Officer for the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, interacted with the media during the drive. He highlighted the importance of voter awareness, accessible registration facilities and public participation, while acknowledging the media’s role in disseminating information about the exercise.

The Election Department said voter facilitation camps and similar enrolment activities would continue to be organised to improve access to electoral services and ensure that eligible citizens had the opportunity to register.
