The Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police who saved lives of over 15 forces personnel in Sopore town on Sunday has been regularised, reports said on Monday.

A grenade was hurled by militants at a force’s vehicle carrying over 15 CRPF and police personnel in the main chowk Sopore yesterday.

The grenade had landed in the vehicle however, SPO Aquib, without caring for his life, immediately threw the grenade out of it.

Two SPOs, including Aqib, and a CRPF soldier besides four civilians received minor splinter injuries after the grenade exploded outside the vehicle.

The daring act of SPO was highly appreciated by senior police officers. Sources said “in appreciation the service of the SPO was regularized.”
