A ruling BJP legislator was Thursday reprimanded by a PDP minister for crying ‘discrimination’ about physical college of education in Jammu region.

Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Ian Raza Ansari reprimanded BJP MLA from Marh, Sukhnandan Kumar in the Lower House today during Question Hour.

Sukhnandan, in a written question, had asked the government about opening of Physical Education College at Jammu “because only one such college presently exists in the State that too at Srinagar”.

Minister Ansari replied that government has no such proposal for opening the college.

The reply angered the BJP legislator who shouted that it is “discrimination” with Jammu.

Ansari retorted back to the MLA and said that it does not fit a legislator to cry discrimination on the floor of the House.

“Physical College in Ganderbal has been built in 1976 and still it is incomplete. When it is fully functional then the government can think of opening another college in the state,” Ansari said. However, the MLA continued to shout.

“You are calling it discrimination on the floor of the House. It will not send a good message outside about the government,” the minister said. “You should not make such insinuations again.”

But Sukhnandan continued to argue with the minister, saying that many of the students form Jammu region move outside for physical education.

The minister replied that if you continue to cry discrimination, then people in Kashmir will ask why IIM has not been set up in Kashmir.

Opposition NC MLA Muhammad Akbar Lone, independent legislators, M Y Tarigami and Er Abdul Rashid too objected to the ruling BJP MLA for shouting discrimination.
