SRINAGAR

In a significant development, special TADA court at Srinagar on Wednesday issued non-bailable warrants against 17 accused including the Managing Director of Medley and other non state pharmacy companies allegedly involved in supply of spurious drugs.

The warrants were served by Justice Muzafer Iqbal Qureshi after Drug Control department filed chalan against 17 accused in his court Srinagar early Wednesday.

Sources privy to the development told KNS that the standing council with the deputy drug controller department Srinagar, Musavir Joo along with Drug Inspector Sammer Ahmad filed the challans against 17 accused under SRO 171. The SRO 171 issued in June 2011 enables the department to file challans in the special TADA Court.

Interestingly this is the first challan of such nature filed in the Srinagar TADA court where  according to Adv. Musavir Joo, Judge has ordered for immediate arrest of all the accused in the Challan with immediate effect and directed Police to produce the accused in the  court on 27th of next month.

Meanwhile Adv. Musavir Joo told KNS that the drug department has filed the chalan in a record 23 days, and was hoping to file more challans in the coming days.

“We have filed cahllans against Life line Pharam Muthi Jammu, Sanative Pharma Himachal, MD Medley Rahul Kumar Singh, Aff Parents Himachal, and Souraj Enterprises for supplying spurious Maxamizine-625 to valley hospitals.” Joo told KNS on Wednesday.

Pertinently Crime Branch has already arrested two persons in this regard but has ruled out  filing any chalans in near future, saying the investigation was on and will take some time.

“Our investigation is on, It will take some time before we would be able to file challan ”, IGP Crime  Javid  Mujtabah Geelani told KNS.
