Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, was informed on Sunday by ERA that the flyover connecting Jehangir Chowk with Barzalla will be read by the year end, an official spokesman said.

“Veeri inspected the progress of work being carried out on Rambagh-Jehangir Chowk flyover where he was informed by the Executive Engineer ERA that the Ist phase of the flyover from Barzalla Bridge to Amar Singh College will be completed by August 15, 2017 and the rest of the work on the flyover (upto Jehangir Chowk) will be completed by December 2017,” the spokesman said.

The Minister had earlier visited Mehjoor Nagar and inspected ongoing work on alternate bridge (Bailey bridge) parallel to existing bridge there, which was recently declared unsafe for transport and public movement.

Veeri directed the concerned executing agency to expedite the work and complete the bridge by the end of this month so that traffic snarls are reduced and people and commuters particularly residing in Natipora, Mehjoor Nagar and other adjoining areas are facilitated. While reviewing the pace of dredging work undertaken for Rambagh Flood Channel, the Minister directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work so that dredging is completed at the earliest.
