The browning Chinars contrast strikingly with the other shrubbery while turning gardens, parks and roads into a palette of colours.

According to data, Srinagar dominates the sector in Jammu Kashmir with 120 parks and 240.34 hectares of land under floriculture. It is followed by Anantnag, which has 30 parks covering 116.30 hectares, and Jammu, with 41 parks spread over 43.39 hectares.

In contrast, Doda and Kishtwar have no parks, although Doda has 87 hectares under floriculture, while Kishtwar has 14.7 hectares. Other districts with minimal floriculture activity include Shopian (1.47 hectares), Ramban (4.95 hectares), and Pulwama (5.90 hectares).

Overall, Jammu and Kashmir has a total of 276 parks and 659.34 hectares under floriculture.

Officials said that expanding floriculture could boost tourism and local economies, particularly in districts with fewer parks. (KNO)
