Srinagar-Jammu Highway: Traffic Advisory For Commuters

SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Tuesday said that on Wednesday subject to fair weather and better road condition only one-way traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu including Banihal-Ramban (local traffic)  on Jammu-Srinagar highway.

The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle including livestock/fresh perishable shall be allowed in the opposite direction. “TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” said the advisory.

“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” reads the advisory.

“ LMVs will have to cross Zig Qazigund from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm and no vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.

It said that heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed Zig (Qazigund) towards Jammu after light motor vehicles.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of highway,” it added.

“On 04-02-2021 Thursday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar highway from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the highway,” reads the advisory.

The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.

It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
