Traffic remained suspended on 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh highway for the fifth day today due to the accumulation of snow, an official said.

Fresh snowfall last week at Sonamarg, Zojila, Meenmarg and Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia, forced authorities to suspend traffic, he said.

He added that BRO is working on snow clearance and also trying to reach the stranded truckers.

Meanwhile, the Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region was remained closed for the fifth day on Monday due to several feet snowfall and slippery road condition.
