SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has forecast an intensifying heatwave across Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days, prompting advisories for the public—particularly vulnerable groups—to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Officials warned that pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions face the highest risk as daytime temperatures continue to rise sharply across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
However, some respite is anticipated towards the end of the weekend, with the department predicting light rain and thundershowers in isolated areas from Sunday evening. The wet spell is expected to extend into Monday in parts of the Union Territory, offering temporary relief from the soaring temperatures.
