Srinagar Police Arrest Three, Solve Two Theft Cases

   

SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police have solved two burglary cases by arresting three individuals involved in the crimes.

Police Post Hazratbal received a written complaint from an individual named Junaid Maqbool Mir, son of Mohammed Maqbool Mir and resident of Litter Pulwama, stating that on 13/02/2024, his mobile phone (Vivo Y21) had been stolen by unknown thieves at the Dargah Shrine.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 12/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Nigeen, and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, two suspects were identified as Gowhar Ahmad Wani, son of Wali Mohammed Wani and resident of Aarigam Budgam, and Mohammed Shoaib Sheikh, son of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh and resident of Khanshab Budgam.
During sustained questioning, they admitted to their involvement in the crime. Upon their disclosure, the stolen mobile phone (Vivo Y21) along with seven other stolen mobile phones (three Redmi, one Oppo, two Realme, one Samsung) and a 20,000 mAh power bank were recovered from their possession.

Further investigation is ongoing, and more recoveries are expected.

In another incident, Police Post Noorbagh received a written complaint from a shopkeeper named Ishfaq Ahmad Dev, son of Ali Mohammed Dev and resident of Bhagwanpora Noorbagh, stating that during the night, unknown thieves entered his shop in Bhagwanpora and stole cash and other valuable items.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Safakadal, and the investigation was set into motion.

During the investigation, the team, after analysing various CCTV cameras and technical evidence, identified the accused as Suhaib Ahmad Dar, son of Tariq Ahmad Dar and resident of Guzarbal Noorbagh. He was subsequently arrested.

Upon his disclosure, stolen cash amounting to ₹50,000 and a cheque were recovered from his residence.
