SRINAGAR: District administration Srinagar on Thursday issued an advisory to residents, particularly those residing near water bodies, in anticipation of rainfall forecasted by the Indian Meteorological Department for the next two days.

“Considering the expected adverse weather conditions with rainfall forecasted from 18th to 20th April by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Srinagar Station, the residents of the district, especially those living along the left and right banks of River Jhelum, its tributaries, and Nallahs, are advised to avoid venturing in and around these water bodies and to restrict their activities until the weather improves,” the advisory states.

The advisory further cautions, “Additionally, tourists, local Shikara operators, sand miners, and individuals using boat crossing points for travel on Dal Lake and River Jhelum, as well as other water bodies, are urged not to attempt crossing without first verifying the condition and situation of these water bodies.”
