The district authorities have decided to put in place restrictions in Srinagar parts on Friday.

Top official sources said that restrictions shall be in place in five police stations manning Old city areas as ‘precautionary measures’. Uptown areas are expected to be normal tomorrow.

On Thursday, authorities had put in place severe restrictions around city thus banning Muharram processions. However, dozens of Shia mourners were detained at Batamaloo when they tried to take out march towards Lal Chowk. Unlike today when most of the Old City areas were calm, severe restrictions will be in place tomorrow.

Hurriyat leaders have planned to hold sit-in at Nowhatta post Friday congregational prayers against the killing of Zahid Rasool Bhat, one of the victims of Udhampur communal Hindu mob attack on three Kashmiri truckers.

Syed Ali Geelani had called for protests against the thrashing of JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik and detention of his party leaders.
