Even as a youth injured yesterday during clashes between Police and protestors in Islamabad, yet another youth from the same area has also been critically injured by a stone hitting from a crowd at Charsoo, Awantipora.

Reports reaching here said that one youth from Bijbehara’s Sether village, famously known for producing cricket bats, was driving his tanker, his only means to feed his family, on the highway when at Charsoo, Awantipora, a stone from a protesting mob hit him. He sustained injuries in face and eyes.

As people were running helter-skelter due to disruption in normal activities as a result of clashes between police and protestors, it took a while for Javed Sofi to be shifted to a hospital from where he was immediately referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar as the wound was of `grievous’ nature.

At SMHS, he was treated for maxofacial injuries and then shifted to Ophthalmology unit where they advised urgent shifting of the patient to SKIMS Soura as the wound was `pretty deep’. At SKIMS, Javed, the lone bread earner for the family by driving a tanker, was operated upon for two and a half hours and even after the surgery his condition continues to be a cause of concern for his family and doctors.

Earlier, a college student from Zirpara – Naseer Ahmad – was critically injured in the pitched battles between forces and protestors. While protestors, according to CNS, alleged he was hit by a canister, SSP Mohammad Jabbar told reporters that he was hit by a stone from amongst the protesting youth.

Naseer is also being treated at SKIMS for Sub-Acronoid haemorrhage with depressed fracture in skull with doctors terming his condition as not very encouraging.

Meanwhile, the ruling coalition partner, PDP demanded investigation in to the case.

Demanding that the investigation in the case should be fast-tracked and those responsible for this criminal act should be immediately arrested and brought to justice, PDP chief spokesperson, Dr Mehboob Beg urged the government to extend best possible medical treatment to injured Javed.

On the other hand PDP Minister, Ab Rehman Veeri, early today visited Naseer at SKIMS and enquired about the health status of Naseer.

The Minister assured them all necessary assistance from the Government. He directed the hospital authorities for providing specialized diagnostic and treatment facilities to the injured persons. He also wished early recovery to the injured, an official statement said.
