SRINAGAR: With just two days remaining in the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls, only 1,069 Form 6 applications have been received from Assembly Constituency (AC) 27 Budgam and 1,575 from AC 77 Nagrota, prompting a fresh appeal from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir.
The SSR exercise, which commenced on April 8, 2025, is scheduled to conclude on April 24, 2025. Authorities have urged all eligible citizens—particularly those who have turned 18 as of April 1, 2025, and are yet to register as voters—to do so without delay.
The CEO reminded residents that voter registration is both a constitutional right and a civic responsibility, vital to ensuring fair and inclusive elections. With a view to bolstering participation, citizens of Budgam and Nagrota constituencies have been encouraged to approach their Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Assistant Registration Officers (Tehsildars), or Electoral Registration Officers (SDM/ACRs). Online registration options are also available via the Voter Helpline App or www.eci.gov.in, and assistance is being provided through the voter helpline number 1950.
Applicants must furnish valid documents proving their age and residence. Form 6 is used for new voter registrations, while Form 7 is designated for deletion of names, and Form 8 allows changes including address updates, corrections, replacement EPIC issuance, and disability status marking.
