The scientific fraternity of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir said that they are much worried about one of their postgraduate student of TSRI, SKUAST-K  who has been abducted by some unknown gunmen on 29th August from his residence.

“It is very sad that one of our postgraduate students namely Asif Rafiq Rather son of Mohammad Rafiq Rather a resident of  Pinglish Tral left university and after reaching his home in the evening hours he was abducted by some unknown gunmen from his residence at around 6:30 pm,” said an official statement.

The statement said that he has actively participated in the ongoing sports week being held at TSRI, Mirgund- SKAUST-Kashmir. On this fateful day, he left for his home at around 4:20 pm. It is to place on record that Asif Rafiq is a brilliant student of our university not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities.

It added that he has become a role model for other students when it comes to realizing the social responsibilities.

“He is sincere, dedicated, and thoroughly gentle and a pious boy who can prove an asset for any society. He has been in the university for the last six years and during this stay in the university we have found him totally a political and religiously pious who would always work for the betterment of the society in general and student community in particular,” the officials said.

On the behalf of SKUAST-employees, SSTA wholeheartedly extends this fervent appeal to his abductors to kindly have mercy on this gentle soul and facilitate his early and safe return to his home for Allah sake so that we all are relieved of this immense trauma.

“As we all live in this conflict zone, our appeal would be to keep families and their children out of this situation,” the statement said.
