Srinagar

A day after the Joint Resistance Leaders called for protests on Friday against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims, government on Thursday detained Yasin Malik from his Abi Guzar office.

Reports said that a contingent of police surrounded JKLF office at Abi Guzar and detained him.

Talking to present media persons ahead of his arrest, Malik alleged the state government of facilitating the raids of NIA in Kashmir.

“We had already announced to court arrest at NIA headquarters in New Delhi on September 9 and we are not being allowed to do so,” Malik said and added “our arrest has proved that the state government has become facilitator of NIA”.

“What does the state government want,” Malik questioned.

He said that Kashmiris have witnessed the brutal times of Ikhwan and Task Force. NIA is doing exactly the same, he said and added that this time will also pass. “NIA will also bite the dust like the Ikhwan and Task Force did.”

On Wednesday, the resistance leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik announced to travel to New Delhi and court arrest at the NIA headquarters.

Geelani continues to be under house detention, Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest earlier in the day and Yasin Malik was formally arrested.
