SRINAGAR

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani Sunday termed the “communal and fascist agendas of the new Indian government” as “deadly”. He said that the “communal forces” of India want to “Saffronize” this entire region and want to implement their “fanatic Hindutva” policies here. “And for this purpose they are using their state power and are breaching all the moral and cultural boundaries,” an amlgam statement said this evening.

“If this nuisance is not collectively countered, besides Kashmiris, the existence and the identity of all the minorities of India will be in acute danger and their future will be very bleak,” he said.

The statement quoting octogenerian Geelani said, “for this purpose, Hurriyat Conference has decided – at first stage – to organize a seminar in Srinagar in this regard on 14 June (Sunday) in which people from different walks of life will express their views over the topic How to Resist the Indian State Fascism.”

The statement added that people and the personalities who have been invited in the proposed seminar include Akali Dal leader Simrenjit Singh Mann, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh, noted human rights activist Gautam Navlakha and representatives of the Christian Community.

“It will be the important seminar of its kind called by the Hurriyat Conference in which the prominent scholars, intellectuals, writers and pro-freedom leaders of the Kashmir Valley would also participate.”

“India has forcibly occupied the land of Jammu & Kashmir and they are using the cruel tactics and military power to suppress any voice which is being raised against this illegal occupation but the very presence of those Muslims and the other minorities who chose India and stayed there at the time of partition in 1947 is also intolerable for the fascist government of India and they have started a war against their existence,” the statement quoted Geelani as having said.

He further said that besides in Kashmir, “a public awareness campaign should be run in the whole of India to counter the dangerous and wicked agendas of the RSS and its allied parties so that the minorities can raise up to protect their existence, their identity and their religion.”

Meanwhile, condemning the continuous detention of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Bandipora Rayees Ahmad Mir despite the bail orders of the court, the Hurriyat amalgam demanded his immediate release.

“Hurriyat Conference also took strong notice of the unjust arrest of the Zubair Ahmad Mir (Khanabal Islamabad), Zahoor Ahmad, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Abdul Rasheed Tantray, Bashir Ahmad Sofi (Tahab Pulwama), Touseef Ahmad Dar, Jahangir Ahmad Ganai, Sheeraz Ahmad Hajam (Quil Pulwama), Jahangir Ahmad Shah (Kakapora Pulwama) and Gowher Ahmad Yatoo Pandzoo Pulwama and said that the army and the police have launched a fresh crackdown on the youths everywhere and they are being subjected to custodial violence and also penalties are being demanded for their release,” the statement added.
