Statehood is Our Right, Not a Favour, Says CM’s Advisor

SRINAGAR: The restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is a rightful entitlement, not an act of generosity, said Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, on Monday. He underscored the region’s vital status as the “crown of the country.”

While visiting Kupwara district, he reaffirmed the central government’s pledge to restore JK’s statehood.

“Statehood restoration is not a favour but our right. Both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have assured its restoration on the floor of Parliament, and we trust their word,” he said.

Nasir Aslam Wani also highlighted the positive relations between the central and JK governments, which he said are producing constructive outcomes. “People have expectations from the government, and rightly so, as they have witnessed people’s representation after years. We are working to bridge the gaps and assure them that the government remains committed to its promises. All that is needed is patience,” he added.

He was on a review visit to Kupwara following recent snowfall. He expressed satisfaction with the district administration’s response. “The administration has performed well in restoring essential services, and we have sensitised them to prepare for the upcoming weather conditions,” he remarked.
