SRINAGAR: Stating that the opposition parties should practise constructive opposition, the Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Tuesday said that the apt time for the restoration of statehood has arrived and it should be restored at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters here, Wani, said that opposition parties should avoid spreading negativity and focus on constructive criticism. “The opposition should think beyond vested interests,” he remarked, adding that one of the opposition parties is responsible for the current issues in Jammu and Kashmir. “It is due to the actions of this opposition party that J&K is facing such a situation. Had they acted positively, the scenario would have been different,” he said.
Responding to a query, Wani said that one must acknowledge the way the Chief Minister has presented every issue before the Prime Minister. “The PM has rightly stated that there is an apt time for everything. We believe the right time has come, and the restoration of statehood must be ensured now,” he added.
“The PM has assured that he fulfils all his promises, and we are hopeful that statehood will be restored at the earliest,” the CM’s Advisor stated.
Regarding the Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, missing the Sonamarg tunnel inauguration yesterday, Wani said the parliamentarian had already clarified that he was in Kochi to attend a function.
The Advisor also emphasised the importance of the cultural sector, stating that the cultural academy and artists play a significant role. “Activities have been initiated since we assumed office. Local artists need to be provided with a platform so they can make a name for themselves at the national level,” he said. (KNO)
