Member Parliament and senior People’s Democratic Party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh Monday said that present National Conference government is building castles in air and are taking those decisions to befool naïve people which are difficult to implement in near future. “Why this government acted as mute spectator and did not show interest in taking any pro-people decision. All this government is doing now is a poll gimmick. The government shouldn’t take any decision at this juncture as it has futuristic implications,”

He said that government is at the fag-end of its tenure and it should not befool unemployed youth by taking such decisions which can’t be implemented. He said that this government is facing huge financial crunch and it can’t afford to implement all the decisions that it has taken in haste after facing drubbing in recently concluded Parliament elections.

“There are no funds for the creation of administrative units and even Planning Commission has not approved them. The State government kept an adhoc provision of just Rs five crore in the budget for the next year for creation of 659 new administrative units in the state. The creation of the units would cost the State more than Rs 1500 crore as it would require to create around 10,000 posts, both in the gazetted and non-gazetted categories to make the units functional apart from putting the required infrastructure in place. Government is building castles in air and it can go to any extent to woe the voters,” Beigh said.

PDP leader said that National Conference is trying to forge an alliance with smaller groups to gain the ground. “PDP is people’s movement and no alliance, how big that may be, will crush it now. We have seen how people defeated two major allies NC and Congress in Parliament elections,” he said adding that a chance of pre-poll alliance between NC and Congress is non-issue for PDP.

He claimed that National Conference use some separatist leaders to enforce election boycott in Kashmir valley.

While addressing the gathering Beigh said that his party will never disappoint unemployed youth and will create jobs for them. He said Jammu and Kashmir could be one of the richest  states given its natural resources in the shape of water, power generation capacity, minerals and horticulture, but due to NC’s selfish and opportunistic politics it has been converted into a begging bowl. “Nobody could call us a beggar state if NC had ever been honest and sincere in government,” he added.

Baig said this government has made the present and future of thousands of Kashmiri youth bleak by pushing them into alienation and then using repressive measures to create an impression of peace. He said while criminal cases have been filed against thousands of young men many more are denied even fundamental right of having a passport. Travel facilities are continued to be denied to the people even some of their distant relative was involved in militancy or might have been killed decades back. “How long are we supposed to be carrying this baggage from the past blunders of the National Conference,” he wondered and said the PDP would withdraw all such fake case and release the precious human material from repression so as they would make a positive contribution to their own lives and that of the state.
