Fascinated by the beauty and intricacy of Kashmir Handicrafts, the TLF (Trip the Life Fantastic) magazine, based in India and United Arab Emirates, has offered to promote Kashmir in Dubai.

A team of the magazine, which was here to attend the recently held Kashmir Tourism Festival today called on the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Tourism Sajad Ahmad Kichloo and expressed the willingness to promote the Kashmir’s multifarious potential before him.

Apprising the Group about that abundance of things that Kashmir has to offer to the world, Kichloo said in addition to enchanting scenic beauty, the Kashmiri Handicrafts are known world over for their intricate designs and grandeur that needed to be promoted and showcased amongst the Dubai Corporate and High-end Luxury clients. He said the Kashmiri handlooms, Kashmiri Handicrafts, artisans and their artwork like the famous crewel embroidery, Pashmina Shawls, Walnut Wood works, Silverware, Silk and paper machine are the famous products which have enjoyed the royal patronage and need further impetus to promote their sale and stoking in the cosmopolitan and royal cities of the world.

Kichloo apprised the TLF Magazine (an International Travel and Magazine) Group to also explore establishing a Travel Tourism link between the J&K State and the United Arab Emirates.

The Commissioner/Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shantmanu apprised the magazine Group about the measures taken by the Government for promotion of handicrafts adding that the Srinagar city has been grouped in ten handicrafts clusters, each cluster having a separate Common Facility Centre for each craft. He said 18000 artisans have already brought under the ambit of these clusters and the artisans are being provided Artisans Credit Cards to avail instant credit facility up to Rs. one lakh without any mortgage, and at nominal interest rate.

The Magazine Group also proposed to present the picturesque and world’s highest green and most scenic Royal Springs Golf.

Moreover, an event in Dubai before and during the Dubai Shopping Festival can also be dovetailed with the proposed handicrafts promotion activity, wherein artisans can be taken to Dubai, to demonstrate their work live and bring forth the heritage of Kashmir.

  1. too much of promotion, i think tourism deptt in valley is strategic abt promotion only. will then operationalize the envisaged plans that they promote with so much of fanfare r we will get to see only proposals n press meets.
    hey schmucks………wake up.. they r squandering our taxes on their foreign tours.
