Intense clashes between students and forces erupted in Magam area of Budgam district Thursday after police allegedly came to arrest some students.

Reports said that a police and CRPF party entered the premises of Govt Degree College and Higher Secondary School Magam as the class work was going on.

They said that forces even entered the classes and arrested at least six students.

Soon the students started protesting against barging of forces in the premises and arresting their fellows and clashed with forces personnel.

The protesting students were demanding release of the arrested students, reports added.

Police and forces personnel resorted to tear smoke shelling against the stone pelting students including girl students triggering intense clashes in the premises.

Reports said that clashes later spread outside resulting in chaos in the whole town.

Clashes were going on when reports last came in.
