Students with Speaker

A group of female students from Government Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh Monday watched the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly as the House discussed Grants for Education Department.

As the members raised various issues facing the Education Department in every nook and corner of the State, the students took notes and showed their appreciation towards the democratic functioning of the House, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The students later called on the Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta at his office chamber.

The Speaker advised the students to explore the politics as a career option. “By entering politics, young leaders can introduce creative reforms in the society that can contribute for the larger well-being of the society,” Gupta said.

The students shared their experiences witnessed during the day with the Speaker who told them to take it as a lesson in democratic functioning of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Speaker also shared his experience of politics with the students and narrated many anecdotes from his day-to-day work.

The students appreciated the role of Speaker which they felt was very challenging in view of management of long proceedings of the House.

Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Ramzan and the teachers of the school were also present in the meeting.
