SRINAGAR: The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has recorded three lakh accounts across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, while 13 lakh subscribers in the two regions are enrolled in various post office financial schemes, Chief Postmaster Sagar Hanuman Singh said.
Singh, who heads the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Postal Circle, said the number of Sukanya Samriddhi accounts reflected a positive response to the savings scheme.
He also highlighted the postal department’s delivery performance, saying 18.4 lakh letters and parcels were delivered during the first six months of the current financial year.
The figure compares with approximately 20 lakh mail and parcel deliveries during the whole of the previous financial year, indicating a substantial volume of deliveries in the first half of the current year.
Singh’s remarks highlighted the reach of post office savings schemes and the department’s mail and parcel delivery operations across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
