Surinder Choudhary Reviews Progress on JK Resident Commission Projects

   

SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary chaired a review meeting on the Public Works Department’s (PWD) ongoing projects under the Jammu & Kashmir Resident Commission. Officials reported that the upgradation of JK House, Chanakyapuri—including a new reception area and lounge—has been completed. The top floor of C Block is set for VIP room conversion at an estimated cost of Rs 127 lakh.

Renovation work on the J&K guest house in Amritsar, including a new boundary wall, gate, signage, ramp, and painting, was completed in the previous financial year. Further upgrades of four suites, kitchen, staff quarters, and lawns will commence this year. The HCM and LG residences on 5-PR Road have been refurbished with painting, furniture, lawn returfing, and parking space enhancements.

Construction of boundary walls for JK Bhawan land in Dwarka and Mumbai has also been completed.

Choudhary commended the PWD for their efforts, urging officials to expedite ongoing projects and meet deadlines while adhering strictly to quality standards. He stressed the importance of regular inspections and compliance with construction norms.

The Deputy Chief Minister further directed enhancements in hospitality services at all J&K Resident Commission guest houses to maintain a warm, welcoming environment reflecting the region’s tradition of hospitality.

He urged Resident Commission staff to act as ambassadors of Jammu & Kashmir, promoting the Union Territory as a safe, vibrant, and attractive destination, encouraging tourism from across India and abroad.

The meeting included Additional Resident Commissioner, Chief Pay & Accounts Officer, Executive Engineer (PWD), Manager 5-PRR, Manager CPGH, and other officials.
