SRINAGAR: Security forces have arrested a suspected Over Ground Worker (OGW) near the encounter site in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir after two militants were killed in a gunfight on Thursday, officials said.
The arrest was made during a cordon and search operation launched in adjoining areas following the encounter to identify and track the militants’ support network.
According to officials, the apprehended man is suspected of providing logistical assistance and shelter to the militants. He is being questioned by a joint team of security forces.
Officials said the investigation is underway to establish the nature of his links with the militants and determine his alleged involvement in their activities.
Security has also been tightened in and around the area as the operation and investigation continue.
