SRINAGAR: Security forces have launched extensive search operations in forest areas of Reasi and Kathua districts in Jammu and Kashmir after residents reported sightings of suspected individuals, officials said on Thursday.
In Reasi’s Bhaga area, a joint team of police, Army, and paramilitary personnel began combing operations late Wednesday night after a woman alerted authorities about two suspicious persons seen near the forest. Aerial surveillance is also being used to track movement in the rugged terrain.
Simultaneously, a similar operation continued for the second day in the Gaghwal area of Kathua district. This followed a report from a local woman who said two individuals in Army uniforms came to her house asking for water, claiming they were returning to their “camp.”
Officials said all efforts are being made to ensure civilian safety and locate the suspects. Forces remain on high alert in both districts, and residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report any unusual activity. (KNT)
