A swimming event, in which more than 100 swimmers of different age groups, from across the valley participated, was held at Delhi Public School, Athwajan Sunday. The event was organized by ‘SIVO’ an event management company under the name of ‘Dive Kashmir’ and it was inaugurated by the state law minister, Mir Saifullah.

Speaking on this occasion Saifullah has said that, “I am happy to see the youth taking part in these types of events.” He also said that these types of events should be held in future as well as t may help people to choose sport as his/her carrier.

As per a statement the event was first of its kind. The participants had to perform 10 rounds of 25 meter to qualify for the next stage. However more than 40 participants were able to qualify including the two national swimmers Aijaz Ahmad Dar and and Amir Bin Ashraf.

Aijaz Ahmad was the best swimmer of the day as he finished 250 meters in just 4 minutes and 1 second. “I am happy to see myself back into swimming as I went inside the water, after two years,” said Aijaz. And added he will give his best to win the final.

The final will be held at Dal Lake on June 23 where participants will have swim around 1500 meters, from Makai Point to Char Chanari, to win the event, reads the statement.
