SRINAGAR: The second edition of The International Film Festival of Srinagar (TIFFS)  will commence on Wednesday at Tagore Hall.

Rohith Bhat, Festival Director, said that over 200 films from 37 countries have been submitted, culminating in a selection of 17 outstanding films for  two-day screening.

“In a special tribute to the legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand on his 100th birth anniversary, we have decided to celebrate cinematic marvels. Renowned director Babbar Subhash, acclaimed for classics like “Disco Dancer” will grace the occasion. The festival boasts a star-studded guest list, featuring luminaries from Bollywood and various states,” he said.

“Overall, this event is anticipated to be a great success, showcasing Kashmiri culture, including traditional arts like embroidery, paper maché, and more. It is expected that the crowd will be significant and some local filmmakers are also participating,” he added.

The opening ceremony will be held by the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar Aijaz Asad while the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha will conduct the closing ceremony of the festival, Rohith said.—(KNO)
