CPI state secretary, and MA Kulgam, Yousuf Tarigami Monday alleged the present regime in New Delhi, of trying to effect trifurcation of the state besides attempting to change the demography of J&K which is against the interests of our state.

Speaking at a press conference, Tarigami said that the Hindu fundamentalist party is propagating the vindictive agenda of RSS.

“Talks of making Jammu a separate state and granting Union Territory status to Ladakh is part of the same plan” he said. However he strongly reiterated “Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have remained a plural society and it can’t be bifurcated or trifurcated.”

Criticizing the Modi led BJP government of New Delhi for raking up the controversial issue of article 370; CPI leader said the central government before settling into their chairs started raising the issue of abrogation of Article 370. Calling it as RSS agenda, he said the Article 370 constitutes the basic structure of Indian constitution as such can’t be amended even under Article 368. “This article defines our relation with the country. It is a question of federalism and Kashmir issue is the testing ground for the Indian federalism” he added.

He also blamed the previous regimes that were in power since independence for weakening the Article 370. “Article 370 at present is a namesake because of various presidential ordinances that were issued from time to time. “But all those amendments were illegal and unconstitutional and led to the uncertainty in the state which eventually gave birth to militancy in Kashmir” he added.

Tarigami blamed the political leaders of the state for assisting New Delhi in implementing the amendments illegally made out by central governments.

Tarigami also said that the erosions have undermined the relation of J&K with the union of India. “We suggest that the present regime should wake up to the realities and all those amendments made until now should be annulled to restore the autonomy that the state enjoyed before 1953” he demanded.

Expressing hope that there is sufficient ground in the country to prevent the present regime from alienating the masses of valley, the south Kashmir legislator alleged that the present regime is being led and dictated by RSS which has again led to the apprehensions among the people of the valley. “This government needs to be reined in” he stressed.

Tarigami castigated the Minority affairs Minister, Najma Heptullah for her comments regarding Muslims that they are not minority in India. “I advise her to analyze the Sachar committee report which has clearly highlighted the miserable plight of Muslims, reporting that Muslims are lagging behind certain OBC, ST/SC and other recognized groups from developmental perspective.”
