Tarigami said that powerful gusts of wind, followed by snowfall in several parts of the Valley, damaged rooftops, power infrastructure and other structures, causing hardship to residents, particularly in rural and far-flung areas. He stressed the need for a comprehensive ground-level assessment to ensure timely relief for affected households.

While describing snowfall as beneficial from an environmental and agricultural perspective, the CPI(M) leader said the government must ensure swift restoration of essential services and connectivity so that people do not face difficulties during harsh winter conditions.

He said snowfall has disrupted road connectivity to several villages, leaving many interior and remote areas cut off. He urged the authorities to deploy adequate manpower and machinery on priority to clear roads and restore access, especially in hilly and remote regions.

Tarigami further said electricity supply was initially affected by strong winds and later worsened by snowfall, underlining that uninterrupted power is critical during winter. He called on the concerned departments to restore electricity at the earliest in all affected areas.

He said the government must respond swiftly and sensitively to the problems faced by people during winter, ensuring that relief measures, restoration of basic services and road connectivity remain top priorities to ease public hardship.
