SRINAGAR
For the second time, Tasaduq Mufti, the cinematographer son of late PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Thursday attended the meeting of the party legislators at Fairview residence of Gupkar and spoke about development of the state.
The young scion of Mufti family has earlier attended the extended core group meeting of the party which was presided over by his sister and PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti. His attending the crucial party meeting and his close association with Mehbooba after their father’s demise has given rise to speculations and reports that Tasaduq is likely making his entry into state politics and may contest from Islamabad Lok Sabha seat that was left vacant due to PDP patron’s demise.
Though PDP is maintaining that today’s meeting was “informal”, held to offer prayers for late former chief minister on his fifteenth day of passing away, KNS has learnt that Tasaduq spoke during the meeting.
“Tasaduq Mufti insisted that all the people associated with the party, especially legislators, should carry forward Mufti Sahab’s mission for the state and consider it a responsibility,” a legislator who attended the meeting said.
“He also talked about tourism of the state, saying it should be given main focus, sanitation and drainage system in the city. He said that Srinagar is the heart of Jammu and Kashmir and its development should be a priority,” the legislator said.
“Tasaduq did not talk about politics. But they way he spoke about tourism, development of Srinagar indicates he has brilliant ideas for the state. He has good knowledge of the things,” said another legislator said.
Today’s meeting was attended by almost all legislators and MLCs to offer prayers for late Mufti.
Sources said that PDP president is likely to call a meeting soon with all district presidents, zonal heads and senior workers of the party.
Besides offering prayers, Mehbooba asked the legislators to continue working in their respective constituencies for welfare of the people inspite of the Governor rule.
The PDP chief has said in the meeting that party’s three MPs and two Rajya Sabha members should utilize their constituency development funds for the development and welfare of the people in the state.
