SRINAGAR: The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has announced the Tata Innovation Fellowship for 2023-24, offering support to scientists in the fields of Biology and Biotechnology. The deadline for the fellowship is February 5, 2024.

Eligible candidates, below 55 years of age and Indian nationals residing in the country, can apply. Selected applicants will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 25,000, in addition to a regular salary from the host institute.

To be eligible, candidates must hold a PhD in Life Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, or a master’s degree in Medical Sciences, Engineering, or an equivalent Biotechnology-related area. A minimum of five years of post-doctoral research experience and a commendable research publication record are also prerequisites.

In further support, each selected fellow will be granted an annual contingency fund. This fund covers expenses related to consumables, equipment, domestic travel, manpower, and other contingent expenditures for ongoing research projects.

To apply, candidates need to submit essential documents, including the application proforma, birth proof, academic transcripts, CV, proof of Indian nationality, two recommendation letters, and a detailed list of peer-reviewed publications with full references. An original and comprehensive research proposal outlining the intended project for the fellowship is also required.

Shortlisted candidates are advised to retain original document copies, as they may be requested for verification in subsequent stages by the Department of Biotechnology, GOI, New Delhi.
